Prescription lenses are made to measure, just for you. They are specially ground and custom made for the optical correction of the individual eye as prescribed by a qualified optician. After your eye examination an optician will give you a written diagnosis, called a PRESCRIPTION. This prescription is your property. You can take this prescription away with you. You can use this prescription to purchase your spectacles from any outlet including the Internet. Just as doctors' prescriptions can be taken to any pharmacist, opticians' prescriptions can be taken to anyone selling glasses. You do not have to buy from the optician that did the eye test. Neither do you have to decide there and then. You can take the prescription away with you and decide later what you want to do. The prescription belongs to you. To supply your spectacles we need details of your current prescription. It must be dated within the last two years; otherwise we strongly recommend you have your eyes tested again. If you prefer to keep your actual prescription then the entry you
make on the order form is your confirmation to be a 'TRUE AND ACCURATE
PRESCRIPTION'. The prescription shows the lens power your vision requires, both
for your right eye and your left eye and usually they will be different.
The higher the power the greater the correction. Prescription styles and contents vary widely so some prescriptions
may also indicate the optical error, the Inset, suggest lens types,
and contain special instructions. Always enter all the details that
are written on your prescription by using the additional information
box on our order form. Example of our completed order form
for prescription details.
(Remember to indicate plus (+) or minus (-) on Sphere and Cylinder. This is very important. Orders without a (+) or (-) can not be accepted. Other Prescription Details if Available:
Some brief definitions. Powers are expressed in Dioptres either plus (+) or minus (-) numbers. It is very important that you enter plus (+) or minus (-) when you complete the order form. Sphere: spherical power of the correction lens required. Cylinder: corrects irregular eye shape (astigmatism). Axis: rotation of lens within frame in degrees. Prism and Base: corrects non-unison and out of alignment eyes. Reading Addition: the extra power you need for reading; (always a positive number). (NB Prescription Styles in some countries do not indicate
a Near or Reading Addition figure but instead give 2 sets of prescription
figures. CURRENTLY WE DO NOT SUPPLY PRESCRIPTION LENSES THAT HAVE A REQUIREMENT
FOR PRISM OR BASE, OR WHERE SPHERE EXCEEDS 6, AND CYLINDER EXCEEDS
2. (See your prescription) PLEASE BE ADVISED FOR CLINICAL REASONS WE DO NOT SUPPLY PRESCRIPTION SPECTACLES FOR CHILDREN (AGED UNDER SIXTEEN YEARS) OR TO PERSONS REGISTERED BLIND OR PARTIALLY SIGHTED.
