We use good quality frames that you can buy on the high street. They are manufactured to British Standards and measurements are in millimetres.

They are made from plastic, metal or both and have either a saddle bridge or two pads; selecting frames with pads can increase positioning comfort.

Try on glasses from family and friends and you'll be amazed at the variety of sizes that seem to fit. Gentle bending and shaping is possible so don't worry about exact sizing if you don't know yours.

Frame measurements e.g. 50-18-140 relate to the lens size, the bridge size and the length of the arms that fit over the ears and are always in millimetres (mm). If your own spectacles have the measurements marked on them put them in the Additional Information box on the order form.

Some of our frames come with a Flex Hinge and are identified on our products page by the symbol F/H appearing after the frame measurements.

There are three basic frame shapes: Round, Oval, and Square, but there are many variations. The rule is you choose a shape that mirrors the shape of your face; but rules are made to be broken.

The styles are masculine and feminine but most are unisex.
Please allow for some variation in colour classifications.

Both Bifocals and Progressives function better with a larger lens area to ensure their full range of use, especially if you are trying them for the first time; however, smaller rounder frames offer better tolerances with fitting. If you already wear Bifocal or Progressives you may adjust to smaller rounder frames but allow more time for the adjustment.

It's your money and it's your face, so choose what YOU want.
